A Little About Me

Dear Family,

Hi! I am currently an au pair for a French family in Paris. We live right near Luxembourg Gardens. However, I am now in rematch because my family is really in need of a nanny and I can only provide the work of an au pair.

I am 19-years-old and from the US. Since I have already been an au pair for 2-months with this very, very active family I have even more experience interacting with children.

I am looking for a family who understands the au pair program and the hours I am able to give and a family who is also able to accept me as "a part of the family." I am very willing to open up about what is working and what is not working with my current family.

I already have my Visa and I am able to stay in France until July 8th, 2014! I have TONS of experience with kids! I was a camp counselor for 3 years and worked at Build-a-Bear Workshop for a year, full time. I also babysit a lot and as I said I am already an au pair here in Paris! Plus, I'm CPR certified, which is also a good thing!

Will you be able to be flexible? or do you need a strict schedule?

I can be very flexible. I have spent a majority of the summer with my current family and have been able to handle their crazy schedule! We are constantly traveling and going places. We have been to Spain, the countryside of France, and even Morocco! Basically, everyday is different and it doesn't bother me.

However, I do have to say one of the biggest problems with my family is that I don't have a schedule. I would definitely need at least some sort of schedule beforehand where I am working 5 hours a day, 30 hours a week. But if I need to work a little more than that some weeks, that's fine too. As long as their is some sort of structure and I'm not working ALL the time!

What do I like to to?

I am an extremely active girl. In addition to all of my experience working with children, I love yoga, dancing, singing, acting, you name it. I love trying new things and traveling.

How much of the language do you know?

I have lived with this french speaking family for 8 weeks so I've definitely learned a lot! I started with close to nothing and now, I can slowly get my message across (although I can't promise I have very good grammar). My currently family also speaks english. But I understand a lot more than I can speak and I work hard everyday with my Rosetta Stone to continue to improve!

Why do you want to be an au pair?

I realize sometimes an au pair in rematch can be looked at as a bad thing, but I honestly believe that my match with my first family just was not right for me. I didn't feel respected like an au pair. I worked with the kids from the moment I woke up until the moment we went to sleep and I was not being compensate for any overtime. Although I would happy to work more if my family needed, I would love it if I got a warning or a schedule. Like I said, I felt extremely taken advantage of with my old family and I am going to be careful that, that does not happen again!

BUT I'm not giving up on au pairing. I know I am a great au pair so I refuse to pack my bags and leave! I love the country, I love children, but it just wasn't the right match the first time around!
